Sarah Ann Austin
I am from Flint, Michigan and have lived in the surrounding areas. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography 2013 with a record of exceptional performance. Currently I am pursuing a Studio Art M.F.A. at the University of Alabama. My work surrounds photographic practices and recently has traveled towards installation. Along side my courses I am actively teaching darkroom and digital Photography classes at the University of Alabama. In every circumstance, I am a leader in the classroom; reliably prepared and willing to participate in highly-conceptual and theoretical discussions about the nature of art in the contemporary art world, as well as its context in art’s history. Additionally, I have have demonstrated a unique dedication to an advancement of my academic skills. In all of my courses, even though I receive high grades, I am always willing to seek further guidance, and to assess my own performance with both humility and confidence. If there is something I can do to improve, I will root out the solution and practice it until achieved. This attribute speaks to how seriously I take my academic career, and how good I am at paying attention to the details of scholarly performance. I will be graduating with my MFA in 2016.
